Independent tech reviews and buying guides, built specifically for the Hungarian market.
Hagakar started in 2023 as a small project born from a simple frustration: finding reliable, unbiased tech reviews with a focus on the Hungarian market was nearly impossible. International review sites rarely consider local pricing, availability, or warranty conditions, and many Hungarian tech publications rely heavily on manufacturer-provided content.
We set out to change that. Our small team of technology enthusiasts based in Budapest tests every product we review in real-world conditions. We buy our review units from Hungarian retail stores whenever possible, pay full price, and put each device through weeks of genuine daily use before publishing our findings.
We do not accept payment from manufacturers in exchange for reviews. Our recommendations are based solely on testing results and real-world experience.
Prices, availability, and warranty conditions are checked across Hungarian retailers. Our advice is practical and actionable for local buyers.
When we receive a product for testing, we clearly disclose it. We explain our testing methodology and update articles when conditions change.
We prioritize information that helps you make a purchasing decision. Technical specifications matter, but real-world usability is what counts most.
Every product review follows a structured process that we have refined over time:
First, we identify products that are relevant to Hungarian consumers. This means they must be readily available through official retail channels in Hungary, with clear pricing and warranty terms. We then acquire the product, preferring to purchase it ourselves from a local retailer.
The testing phase lasts a minimum of two weeks for smaller gadgets like earbuds and three weeks for laptops and phones. During this time, the product replaces our usual daily driver for its category. We document performance, battery life, comfort, and any issues that arise during real use.
Finally, we compare prices across major Hungarian retailers including Alza.hu, Media Markt, Extreme Digital, and local specialized shops. This ensures our price recommendations reflect what you will actually pay, not theoretical international pricing.
Our primary focus areas include smartphones, laptops, wireless audio devices, and related accessories. We chose these categories because they represent the most common and significant technology purchases for most people. Each product category has its own testing standards that we apply consistently across all reviews.
We also publish buying guides that aggregate our findings into practical recommendations for different budgets and use cases. These guides are updated regularly as new products launch and prices shift in the Hungarian market.
